It is with deep respect and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Varsity’s founder, Mr. Robert Bellini.
Affectionately known as “Mr. B,” Bob was a devoted and loving father of five, a cherished grandfather of fifteen, and a proud great-grandfather of six. He was the beloved husband of Penelope Bellini ("Mrs. B"), with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and memories for 70 years. In the early days of Varsity, while Mr. B went out on jobs, Mrs. B would answer the phone with their first child in the playpen beside her.
Mr. B came from humble beginnings and was a proud United States Navy veteran who served our country with honor and received commendation for his service. He founded Varsity with little more than an old truck, an unwavering work ethic, and a deep belief in loyalty, respect, and integrity. His guiding philosophy—often repeated around the office—was simple and powerful: “Do a good job at a fair price, stand behind our work, and always keep our word.”
One of the team’s favorite stories was Mr. B’s fond recollection of being paid in chickens for a plumbing repair—a reminder of both how far Varsity has come and the humility that never left him. Over more than sixty years, he grew Varsity into the company it is today by staying true to those core values and passing them on to his three sons, two daughters, and the many grandchildren who have proudly joined the Varsity Team along the way.
If asked about his greatest achievement in life, Mr. B would always say his business. Beyond his family, Varsity was his absolute pride and joy. Mr. B remained actively involved for as long as he was able, continuing to offer guidance, wisdom, and encouragement through the years.
Mr. B's legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the people he mentored, and the family-centric company he built. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
