On a fun-filled day open to all, Varsity Home Service celebrated the community with family-friendly entertainment, delicious food and amazing raffles. The Wiseman from 103.1 MAX FM helped kick off the event with great music while also featuring our guests on the radio. Both children and adults had a blast participating in games such as hula hoop contests with fun giveaways for the winners. Kids faces were painted and balloon animals were created. The best part is that everyone came together in support of the cause during our Community Appreciation Day & Fundraiser on June 2nd, 2018.

The event, held at Varsity HQ in Bohemia, left everyone with high spirits, full bellies, and plenty of fantastic prizes that included a Char-Broil Grill, HD-TV, MLB tickets, a stay in Gurney’s Montauk Resort, and more! 100% of the proceeds from 100+ raffles went directly to local families in need.

Varsity president Bobby Bellini explained why they decided to organize this fundraising event for the community: “These children and their families have already been through so much hardship. If we could bring joy and light to their lives, then we absolutely will do what we can to accomplish that.” And accomplish it they did!

One Less Obstacle to Face

Kyle Engblom, recent East Islip High School graduate and Islip Terrace resident, has been fighting the rare disorder FAHN since the young age of three. This disorder directly affects the central nervous system and can lead to muscle spasms and in more severe cases, seizures.

Like any teen in the summer, Kyle wanted to be able to experience the beach with his family. The sand will no longer be an obstacle thanks to an all-terrain wheelchair Varsity ordered to ensure he could comfortably enjoy the beach with his family for many summers to come.

A Magical Make-A-Wish Trip to Walt Disney World Resort

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded with a mission to grant the wishes of children diagnosed with critical illnesses. Varsity was honored to team up with the Suffolk County branch to help grant the wish of a 7-year-old boy from Lake Ronkonkoma. Samuel battles a severe seizure disorder along with a condition known as Encephalitis, which is inflammation of the brain.

His ultimate wish is to meet his favorite characters Buzz Lightyear and Woody who now have a new home, Toy Story Land, at the magical Walt Disney World Resorts. Our fundraising efforts have made it possible for Samuel and his family to take a trip to Orlando this coming September!

Supporting Our Community

After the community fundraising event, Varsity hosted a celebratory dinner with the families being helped by the Community Appreciation Day & Fundraiser.

“It meant everything to us to see the smiles on their faces. It was so touching to see families coming together in tears of joy; a truly humbling experience,” said Varsity president Bobby Bellini.

The Varsity Team understands the positive impact we can have on the lives of others, which is why giving back to the community is so important and remains to be a near and dear cause for Varsity Home Service.
